The South Florida ISSA (Information Systems Security Association) will be hosting a one day conference: Taking Security Seriously?! on Friday March 9, 2012 at the Signature Grand in Ft. What is a hacker ?

Contrairement à la croyance populaire, un hacker n'est pas un pirate qui vole des cartes bleues ou qui effectue des attaques criminelles sur des systèmes d'information.

Un hacker est avant tout une personne qui partage ses projets et connaissances de manière non marchande et sous licence open source. Les hackers sont avant tout les créateurs de logiciels libres tels que les systèmes basés sur GNU/Linux ou des applications populaires telles que vlc, firefox ou libreoffice (pour ne citer que les plus connues) qui respectent les libertés fondamentales du logiciel libre. Depuis plusieurs années, le mouvement hacker s'est élargi et enrichi de compétences variées ce qui a permis à d'autres projets sous licence libre de voir le jour. Les hackers sont partout : Ils rédigent des encyclopédies, produisent et animent des vidéos, gèrent des hébergeurs internet, concoivent des circuits électroniques etc etc

Les hackers sont par définition curieux de comprendre les machines et objets qui les entourent. Ils se battent contre le moyen âge technologique dans le quel la "génération facebook" se complait à végéter en faisant de la vulgarisation scientifique et en redonnant envie aux gens de comprendre et maîtriser la technologie qui, avec la bonne approche n'a rien de magique ni de compliqué.

Ici à l'électrolab, nous sommes des hackers. Pas des pirates.
